Honolulu Fire Department Launches Redesigned Website
The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) announced that its new redesigned website has officially launched. The HFD’s website, fire.honolulu.gov, assists the department in its mission of educating the public about fire prevention and community risk reduction.
Serving as the official website for the department, the redesigned site makes it easy for users to find information on common topics including firecrackers, permits, inspections, and in-depth fire and life safety information curated specifically for homeowners, businesses, keiki, and kupuna. A primary feature on the new site is the addition of an online request for information form which allows citizens to request fire incident reports, property records, or schedule a variety of fire safety education events such as fire safety presentations.
“Our mission at HFD is to provide for a safer community through prevention, preparedness, and effective emergency response,” said Lionel Camara, Jr., Acting Fire Chief. “The new website will be used to provide information and tools that will help empower Hawaii’s citizens to take responsibility for their own safety.”
NIC Hawaii, a part of NIC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tyler Technologies, worked closely with HFD staff to collect, develop, and design the new website. Built in WordPress, HFD staff can also easily manage their web content going forward. Additional site features include:
- Mobile-friendly, responsive web design that works across all handheld devices
- Contemporary look and feel that matches the HFD visual identity and brand values
- Media library which consolidates all news releases, videos, and social media
- Frequently asked questions section containing answers for hot topics such as lighting imu, firecracker permits, and employment opportunities
- Compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) web accessibility requirements
