Lottery Winners Now Verified Prior to Purchasing Hunting Tags
Beginning May 1, 2022 the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) will have a new online tool that will verify if a hunter has won a lottery prior to purchasing a lottery hunting tag. The service can be accessed by going to gohunthawaii.ehawaii.gov/public/tags.
Hunters have been able to purchase hunting tags and permits online since November 2021. Some tags require that the hunter win a lottery to use the tag. Previously, there was a popup for these lottery tags that would warn the hunter that the tag must only be purchased by a lottery winner. Now the system will ask the hunter a set of questions and check their status in the system to verify that they have won a lottery before they can purchase the lottery tag.
“This will help our agency regulate the sales of game tags while providing a streamline validation process for lottery hunters,” said Jason Omick, a Wildlife Biologist.
The Go Hunt Hawaii platform is also home to other useful hunting tools such as hunter education programs (beginner & advanced), applying for hunts, and purchasing hunting permits.
The DLNR Go Hunt Hawaii service was created in partnership with NIC Hawaii, part of NIC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tyler Technologies.
