State Makes New Elevator Permit Applications and Payments Available Online

The Hawaii State Department of Labor & Industrial Relations (DLIR) today announced that installation applications for new elevators and kindred equipment and personnel hoists at construction sites will only be available online beginning August 6, 2013. The online form provides contractors a simple, one-stop application to submit and pay for their installations.

“Making new installation applications and fee payment available online is just the first phase, we are working towards making all types of elevator permit applications and fee payments available via the web,” said DLIR Director Dwight Takamine. “Moving the Elevator Branch services online is part of the Abercrombie Administration’s efforts to provide more convenient services to the public and to transform the way government operates.”

To submit an application for new installation of elevators and kindred equipment on or after August 6, 2013, please go to the following website: hiosh.ehawaii.gov/hiosh. Applicants will use a digital form to enter all the necessary information and attach installation plans for review. Users will need to attach a PDF of the plans and make payments by credit card or monthly billing. A help desk chat support option will be available to assist users.

After completing the application, the submitter will receive an email containing a copy of the application and a payment receipt. For more information on subscriber services please visit:  portal.ehawaii.gov/page/subscriber-services. For more information or questions about the new service, please call (808) 586-9141 or email at dlir.hiosh.elevators@hawaii.gov.

This new online application was developed and will be maintained via the eHawaii.gov program, a largely self-funded public-private partnership between the State of Hawaii and Hawaii Information Consortium. This partnership has allowed Hawaii to deploy award-winning applications such as: Hawaii Electronic Bench Warrants, Statewide Camping Permits, Hawaii Business Express and Online Motor Vehicle Renewals.
